DMJ Blogs: Guide to shooting

Tips on How to Improve your Shooting Skills in the Basketball Court

As what the Cleveland Cavaliers Star Lebron James once said: “Basketball? it ain’t easy.” Some people see the game as an easy to play game. you just pound the ball a few times on the floor and shoot it at the rim. but no. Basketball is more than that. It requires dedication, passion, a lot of heart, a lot of hardwork and effort, and especially, A lot of PRACTICE.

We know a lot of people especially teens/ young people are struggling when it comes to their shooting. Some may make shots, but they are possibly doing it the wrong way. Modesty aside, I and my fellow blogger, Marc have great touches/ can shoot accurately compared to other people. Some may incorporate it with genes because some people have or ar related to basketball players. Yes, that might help, but it is really up to the person if they want to improve their shooting abilities.

I and my fellow bloggers prepared a few tips that would possibly help other people improve their shooting ability. We would call this, THE ART OF SHOOTING.

THE ART OF SHOOTING

1)Develop a Steady/ Balanced Stance.

Developing a steady and balanced stance would help a shooter maintain composure and prepare his/her body as he/she will shoot. It varies depending on the person. As long as you are comfortable and you feel like your feet is squared up to the ground, then it will do.

2)Bend your Knees!

Bending your knees would be necessary because your knees is where you gain momentum/ strength. As you bend your knees, you are gaining balance, composure and enough strength to shoot the ball.

3)Your arm should be straight; elbow must  point the rim

This would help you straighten your shot. It is like the guide as to where the ball will go as you release it. It is very important that you straighten it up to prevent your shot to be deflected in a different angle.

Last but definitely not the least, FOCUS YOUR ATTENTION TO THE RING!

You need to pay attention at the location of the rim. Focusing for a few seconds would let your brain adjust and try to control your shot. It would also help you to aim your shot the right way.

So there you have it, I hope our tips would help you become a better shooter.

and as what they always say :

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
